Kim Wright

THEATRE DIRECTOR | MOVEMENT | INTIMACY

I am a creative specialising in directing, movement, and choreography, with a particular focus on intimacy support. My work combines physical storytelling and a nuanced approach to relationships, crafting visually compelling performances that highlight the complexity and richness of human connections.

With a passion for comedy and rhythm, I bring a dynamic and playful energy to my projects, exploring the beats of humour and movement to enhance the depth of each narrative. I am dedicated to fostering a safe, respectful space for staging intimacy, ensuring trust and collaboration flourish among cast members.

Whether creating intricate choreography or shaping moments of profound vulnerability, I emphasize practices that celebrate authenticity, connection, and creativity.

My work spans both professional and community casts, aiming for high-quality productions that offer an exceptional theatrical experience. My interests range from devised pieces to classic revivals, driven by an exploration of layered human behavior through playful, movement-based storytelling.

With a broad background in dance and movement, I value individual and ensemble expression, blending style with freedom. I thrive in collaborative, compassionate settings that nurture experimentation and creativity.

In addition to my stage work, I’m excited to bring my skills to screen, exploring opportunities to translate physical storytelling and nuanced performance into the world of film and television.

Open to new projects, I’m interested in collaborative opportunities in the UK and internationally.

ASM & Arts Management

Alongside my expertise in directing, movement directing, and intimacy direction, I bring a broad range of skills to the world of stage management and arts administration. As an Assistant Stage Manager, I have gained significant experience supporting rehearsals, working closely with Deputy Stage Managers , and attending production meetings, especially within touring productions where logistics and adaptability are crucial.

In addition to my core responsibilities, I have managed rehearsals in the absence of the DSM, ensuring that the rehearsal process continues to run smoothly and efficiently. This has involved proactive communication with the cast and creative team, organizing schedules, and addressing any challenges that arise in real-time.

My skill set extends beyond the rehearsal room:

  • Enhanced DBS: Committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism in all settings.
  • Full Driving License: Offering flexibility and the ability to manage transportation for tours and productions.
  • Qualified First Aider & Mental Health First Aider: Prepared to provide immediate support for physical and mental health concerns on and off stage.
  • Licensed Chaperone: Experienced in working with young performers, ensuring their safety and well-being in compliance with all regulations.

I bring a diverse set of skills to every project, supporting not just the creative elements but also the operational and logistical needs that make a production successful.

Kim is highly motivated and worked tirelessly with me. She had all of the tools and language to work in the environment set up with the cast and was always ready with new ideas and skills to bring to the table.
