Kim Wright

THEATRE DIRECTOR | MOVEMENT | INTIMACY

I am a theatre maker, specialising in direction, movement, and intimacy. Passionate about reimagining historical works through a contemporary lens, I strive to create dynamic, ensemble-driven theatre that aim to resonate with audiences.

With a love for comedy and rhythm, I bring playful energy to my work, using the beats of humour and movement to enrich the narrative. I am committed to cultivating a safe, respectful environment for staging intimacy, where trust and collaboration thrive.

Whether crafting choreography or shaping moments of vulnerability, I focus on practices that honour authenticity, connection, and creativity.

My collaborative approach, supported by strong organisational skills and adaptability in complex production environments, fosters a creative process that prioritises consent, confidence, and creativity.

My work spans both professional and community casts, aiming for high-quality productions that offer an exceptional theatrical experience. My interests range from devised pieces to classic revivals, driven by an exploration of layered human behaviour through playful, movement-based storytelling.

With a broad background in dance and movement, I value individual and ensemble expression, blending style with freedom. I thrive in collaborative, compassionate settings that nurture experimentation and creativity.

In addition to my stage work, I’m excited to bring my skills to screen, exploring opportunities to translate physical storytelling and nuanced performance into the world of film and television.

Open to new projects, I’m interested in collaborative opportunities in the UK and internationally.

Arts Administration & Production experience

Alongside my expertise in directing, movement directing, and intimacy direction, I bring extensive experience in arts administration and production support. As an Assistant Stage Manager, I’ve developed strong skills in coordinating rehearsals, supporting Deputy Stage Managers, and attending production meetings—particularly in touring productions, where logistics, flexibility, and attention to detail are essential.

My experience also includes managing key logistical tasks such as booking spaces, conducting research for production needs, and organising travel for cast and crew. In addition to supporting the rehearsal process, I’ve taken on the responsibility of ensuring that productions run smoothly through effective communication, schedule management, and real-time problem solving.

Further skills include:

Enhanced DBS: Committed to upholding the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

Full Driving License: Offering flexibility and managing transportation for tours and productions.

Qualified First Aider & Mental Health First Aider: Ready to provide immediate support for physical and mental health concerns.

Licensed Chaperone: Experienced in working with young performers, ensuring their safety in compliance with regulations.

I bring a diverse set of skills to every project, supporting both the creative and operational aspects of production. Energetic and passionate, with a solid background in arts administration, I am highly organised and adaptable, with proven experience in scheduling, admin, budgeting, and logistical coordination. I thrive in fast-paced environments, offering a solutions-focused approach to ensure smooth operations and effective collaboration with creatives, cast, and crew.

Kim is an industrious and ebullient director who creates the perfect balance of
a warm, safe and supportive rehearsal environment.
